“Be Very Careful”
By Tom Kurian, President & CEO, Renaissance Electronics Corp. |
“Be very careful” — a mother’s passing comment to her kids as they head outside. The words describe a way of living that is precise, accurate, and deliberate. It involves both forethought and a heightened sense of awareness. I wrote this to build awareness in companies involved in manufacturing and trading products for defense and Sat-Com programs.

Another Sad Moment For the FCC
By Barry Manz
A significant number of rooftop antenna sites owned primarily by wireless carriers exceed FCC public and occupational exposure limits, make it impossible for workers to avoid standing in front of antennas, and are inadequately posted with warnings and barriers. Read More...

| Sky Brasil Eyes It 6th MMDS Buy |
Satellite broadcaster Sky Brasil is attempting to buy Acom Comunicações, the company running Brazil’s largest remaining MMDS pay-TV service. If approved, it would be Sky Brasil’s 26th MMDS company acquisition and a near fatal blow to the MMDS pay-TV industry in the country. While cable television companies have been growing consistently, MMDS operators have been losing subscribers. Acom's pay-TV service, branded as Jet TV, is present in 14 metropolitan areas across Brazil. Industry analysts speculate that Sky Brasil (controlled by DirecTV) will want to migrate Acom's subscribers to its satellite platform. This would allow Sky not only to bring more consistency and simplicity to its pay-TV network operations but also reuse the 2.5 GHz spectrum owned by Acom to launch other services. Sky launched a new TD–LTE wireless broadband service last month, which at the moment is only available in Brasilia but should expand to other markets and operates in the 2.5 GHz band.

•Directivity and VSWR Measurements
Return loss and VSWR measurements are complicated by the finite performance of the directional device used to measure the reflected power. The only accurate and convenient way to make return loss measurements is with a well matched high directivity directional coupler or bridge.
