The Multidimensional Alan Borck
By Charles Alan Borck, Founder, RLC Electronics |
Charles Alan Borck, founder of RLC Electronics in Mt. Kisco, NY, died on March 1 at 87.
No one who ever did business with Alan Borck would ever consider him indecisive or indirect. While he was a man of few words, they were always what he believed to be the truth, like them or not. Alan was a stand-up guy, and a very bright one as well.

Another Sad Moment For the FCC
By Barry Manz
A significant number of rooftop antenna sites owned primarily by wireless carriers exceed FCC public and occupational exposure limits, make it impossible for workers to avoid standing in front of antennas, and are inadequately posted with warnings and barriers. Read More...

Hurricane Sandy No Match for MPD
The fact that Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on 90 percent of our office staff (I was the only one who had power and utilities), not to mention the devastation to our home states of New York and New Jersey, was a bit daunting, to say the least. As it happened, electricity and phone service was restored to our office on Thursday after the storm, but not Internet, email, or our FTP site. Those last three things are must-haves when you’re putting out a magazine. The next day, our senior production editor, Erin, traveled on gas fumes to the office and set up her phone as a wireless hot spot, which solved most of our problems. I was able to send her my last scraps of editorial material, and we began to contact advertisers who had not been able to send their material to our FTP site, informing them that they could send it to Erin’s email address. Success!
We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who contacted us personally to express your concern about our safety. We are in fine shape compared to so many who lost homes, businesses, or — most tragically — their lives, or the lives of loved ones.
We thank you all for your support.

•Directivity and VSWR Measurements
Return loss and VSWR measurements are complicated by the finite performance of the directional device used to measure the reflected power. The only accurate and convenient way to make return loss measurements is with a well matched high directivity directional coupler or bridge.
