Nemesis Series Space Saver Connector

A rugged, lightweight, “no-profile” interconnect system was developed and designed specifically for wearable and portable military equipment used in modern warfare. The first interconnect system of its kind, the Nemesis Series Space Saver connector is a compact solution that not only saves weight, but also helps effectively shrink the overall size of portable equipment. The advanced connector system utilizes canted spring technology to provide blind mating and quick snap-on/rip-away coupling to prevent military personnel from being endangered should a cable snag. Other design considerations include the use of ribbed over-molding for secure grip under difficult conditions. Extremely rugged and with a high degree of sealing, the Nemesis Series Space Saver connector is designed to withstand harsh conditions in the field and features an anti-reflective RoHS-compliant salt-spray resistant plating that is guaranteed for 500 hours. It has superior EMI performance to ensure the integrity of high frequency signals, as well as pogo pin contact technology for enhanced contact durability. Its canted spring technology provides full 360º EMI protection.

The Spectrum Control line, acquired by API Technologies, now manufactures all components for its custom filtered and unfiltered connectors, including planar and tubular capacitors, shells, shields, seals and grommets. Complete in-house production allows Spectrum to maintain tighter quality control, resulting in a higher performing connector with a shorter lead time, all at a competitive cost. Audio, circular, and hermetically sealed connectors are available. The complete line of compact and extended shell filtered connectors provides a wide range of design flexibility. Compact shell filtered connectors offer an effective filtering device that reduces the amount of real estate required within a product enclosure. The extended shell connectors are ideal when a quick turnaround is required for prototype devices. Filtered connector styles include MIL-DTL-38999, MIL-DTL-83723, MIL-DTL-26482, MIL-DTL-55116 and MIL-DTL-24308, but custom designs are also offered.

Two-Way Combiner/Divider

Model D9042 uses the company’s breakthrough technology to provide a new 2-way combining solution covering the full 3000 to 6000 MHz bandwidth. The D9042 is rated for 250W at the sum port, and operates with an insertion loss of only 0.25 dB maximum. This small package size measures just 2.03 x 2 x 0.87" and weighs 5 ounces. Two New Wideband LDMOS Transistors

Immediate availability and full design support capabilities for two new laterally diffused metal oxide semiconductor (LDMOS) transistors from Freescale Semiconductor has been announced. The highly versatile RF power FETs feature enhanced ruggedness of 65:1 VSWR and wideband operation over a broad 1 MHz to 2 GHz frequency range. The unmatched transistors are capable of delivering full CW rated power over the entire operating frequency range. The combination of integrated stability enhancements and optimized impedances allows for a simpler wideband implementation than previous generations of LDMOS transistors. The devices are housed in Freescale’s low thermal resistance packaging and are ideally suited for applications involving harsh conditions, including HF-UHF transmitters and transceivers, television transmitters, white space data transceivers, aerospace and defense systems, test equipment, and radar systems.

Higher Rating Achieved on RF Inductors for Military Market

The company has recently achieved failure rate Level R for its MIL-PRF-39010 RF inductors — ER10M and ER17S Series. These thru-hole series meet the military’s Qualified Product List (QPL) requirements for Established Reliability (ER). Such approval requires extensive testing for electrical, environmental, mechanical and thermal performance. Level R represents a 10X increase in reliability over the prior Level P rating for these two series. Each series has exceeded 10 million unit hours of life testing to date.

GaN Broadband Power Amplifier

Model SSPA 0.020-6.000-35 is a high power, super broadband GaN RF amplifier that operates from 20 MHz to 6.0 GHz. This PA is ideal for broadband military platforms because it is robust and offers high power over an extremely large bandwidth with decent power added efficiency. This amplifier operates with a base plate temperature of -30 to +70ºC. It is packaged in a modular housing that is approximately 2.5 x 7.7 x 1.4". Weight is 2.0 pounds maximum. This amplifier has a typical saturated output power of 35W at room temperature. Noise figure at room temperature is 10 dB typical. Power flatness across the band is typically +/-3.0 dB with a typical power of 80W at 800 MHz and 20W at 6 GHz. Input and output VSWR is 2.0:1 typical. This PA operates from a +28 Vdc input voltage.
