New 1 to 20 GHz SDLVA Module
A new Successive Detection Log Video Amplifier (SDLVA), the HMC-C088 operates over the full 1 to 20 GHz frequency range and carries a class 1A ESD rating (250V HBM). Specified as an improved ESD performance replacement for the HMC-C052 SDLVA, the HMC-C088 features miniature connectorized module packaging, which makes it ideal for designers with space and power-constrained applications, including EW and ELINT receivers, DF radar, ECM, and IFM systems. Also ideal for pulsed signal applications requiring high amplitude accuracy, the unit is a broadband SDLVA device that converts RF signals at its input to an output voltage that is proportional to the logarithm of the RF input signal amplitude. The HMC-C088 employs a successive compression topology, which delivers a high logging range of 59 dB and allows for the processing of high level signals up to +5 dBm.

Ultra-Low Noise Amplifier
A new 5 to 11 GHz ultra-low noise amplifier has been added to the company’s growing line of high-quality products. The CMD132P3 presents an ultra-low noise figure of 1.3 dB, delivers greater than 20 dB of gain across the entire bandwidth, and has a corresponding output 1 dB compression point of +10 dBm. The unit, which is housed in a RoHS-compliant, 3x3mm QFN plastic surface mount package, requires a single supply voltage of +3.6V at 30mA. Ideal for microwave radios and C- and X-band applications where small size and low power consumption are needed, the CMD132P3 is also suitable for point-to-point radios, point-to-multipoint radios, military and space applications, and test instrumentation.

Two New Connector Series: TMP® and WMP®
Now available, and with full design support capabilities, are two new connector series from Carlisle Interconnect Technologies (Carlisle IT). The new series are extensions of Carlisle IT’s push-on connector family. The TMP connectors are designed to provide a convenient blind-mateable solution specifically for high power applications. The TMP interface is comparable in size to an SMA connector, and offers similar power handling and durability in a push-on configuration. It is ideal for design in radar, missile and satellite systems, as well as commercial applications. Frequency range is DC to 23 GHz. The WMP series offers a small form factor push-on blind-mate solution for high frequency applications like military radios, electronic countermeasure, and test and measurement, from DC to 100 GHz. The WMP series is designed to satisfy the demand for increased package density and reduced weight in microwave systems. The sub-miniature, lightweight blind-mateable interconnect solution is ideal for complex high performance microwave modules and systems where weight is the primary issue.

GaN HEMT Broadband Transistor
Model IGN0110UM100 is a dual-lead packaged GaN high electron mobility transistor (HEMT). This device is designed for broadband applications operating over the 100 MHz to 1 GHz instantaneous frequency band. Under CW conditions, it supplies a minimum of 100W of output power with 12 dB gain. Specified operation is with Class AB bias. It is also operable under a wide range of pulse widths and duty factors.

Ceramic, Hermetically Sealed, Wideband High Gain Mixer
The MRA-42MH+ combines a double balance mixer with a highly linear, low noise IF amplifier to provide a high gain active mixer for efficient operation from 1000 to 4200 MHz. The unit, due to its ultra compact size (.300 x .250 x .060”), offers the additional flexibility to enable the user to install design specific components (i.e., filters, attenuators, switches, etc.) based upon the design needs. The Schottky diode and MMIC amplifier are bonded to a multilayer integrated LTCC substrate, and then sealed under a controlled nitrogen atmosphere with gold plated covers and eutectic Au-Sn solder. These very compact active mixers have been tested to MIL requirements for gross leak, fine leak, thermal shock, vibration, acceleration, mechanical shock and HTOL.

Quad 1.25 GHz D/A Converter Module
The Cobalt® Model 71671 is the company’s highest performing D/A converter module for RF and IF waveform playback. The module delivers four independent analog outputs each through its own digital upconverter and 16-bit D/A with sampling rates to 1.25 GHz. An on-board Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGA contains factory-installed intellectual property (IP) that provides turnkey waveform generation for output signal bandwidths from less than 1 kHz up to 250 MHz with an extended interpolation range from 2x to 1,048,576x. Users can also customize the module’s operation by implementing their own IP in the FPGA. The unit uses two DAC3484 D/A converters from Texas Instruments, each providing two digital upconverters (DUCs) and 16-bit D/A channels that can translate a quadrature (I+Q) baseband signal to a user-selectable IF (intermediate frequency) center for transmitting.

World’s Lightest Battlefield Communications Satellite Terminal
The military specified Mantis MSAT is said to be the world’s smallest and lightest satellite data terminal. At 27.5 pounds, MSAT is designed for one-man operation in challenging operational environments. It is a rugged terminal, resistant to extreme environmental conditions, that is deployed from a single lightweight backpack. MSAT terminals are currently undergoing field trials for battlefield, command center and special operations implementations. It was developed to address demand from forces around the world that require a highly portable solution capable of delivering high bandwidth voice and data communications. Providing up to 5Mbps upstream data throughput, MSAT can be used to deliver high definition video intelligence in addition to standard voice and data requirements. Even in the most hostile operating environments, the terminal can be unpacked and operational within five minutes. MSAT meets the MIL 810 F and DEF-STAN military specifications for shock, vibration, sand and rain, and is provided as a “one box” solution, incorporating antenna, modem, and all electronics. A high performance parabolic antenna is coupled, according to customer requirements, with interchangeable modem and encoder options.
