Synthetic Graphite for PC Thermal Management
Embedding layers of synthetic graphite within microwave PCBs provides in-plane thermal conductivity between 1500 to 1600 W/mK, about four times that of copper, and density between 2.0 and 2.1 g/cm3, about one-quarter of copper. Four times lighter and transfers heat four times better. Available in thin sheets ranging in thickness from 10 to 40 μm and typically supplied with a self-adhesive coating and on a carrier. This allows for significant SWaP savings while increasing the lifetime of active devices and causing them to run up to 20°C cooler.
