Beamforming IC

The F6522 is an eight-channel active beamforming RFIC from Renesas that operates between 27.5 and 31 GHz, making it well suited for Ka-band satellite communication applications. It has a single common RF input and eight independently-controlled output channels that can drive eight single-polarized antenna elements or four dual-polarized elements in an ESA radar. Each channel has 6 bits of digital phase control covering 360° and 25 dB of gain control with a minimum step size of 0.2 dB. It operates from a single 2.1 to 2.5 VDC supply, delivers 28 dB of small signal gain, and has a P1dB Rf output of 11 dBm per channel.
